Screenshot to deadline: DueRadar’s Chrome extension.
Capture the visible area of a web page with DueRadar’s Chrome extension, then review its English text, date, and preparation plan in your dashboard. You choose what to save.
This is an unpacked testing build, not a Chrome Web Store release. Use a local app or preview deployment that includes screenshot capture. Production availability will follow testing.
Install the testing build
- Check out the
feature/screenshot-deadline-capturebranch of the DueRadar source repository and install the app’s dependencies. - Build the extension from the app directory, using the exact origin of your running local app or OCR preview. For local testing:
npm run extension:build -- http://localhost:3000 - Open
chrome://extensionsin Chrome. Enable Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, and select the generateddist/chrome-extensionfolder. - Visit a regular web page containing a deadline, open the extension, and choose Capture this page. Finish signing in to DueRadar in the tab it opens, if needed.
- Review the extracted text and date. Verify any cutoff time and its time zone. Review preparation and email reminders, then save from the final deadline form.
What happens to the screenshot?
Capture starts only when you click. One screenshot is held temporarily in the extension’s browser session and cleared after delivery to the matching app tab. Text reading runs locally in the browser; the image is not uploaded to DueRadar’s server. Only the reviewed deadline fields are saved, plus a selected source sentence if you explicitly choose to keep it.
Capture the relevant notice and leave sensitive details out. English text is supported in this first version. Reading can make mistakes, and a reminder does not cancel, renew, or return anything for you.
Screenshot deadline capture: common questions
- Can a Chrome extension turn a screenshot into a deadline?
- The DueRadar Chrome extension can capture the visible part of a web page and open it in your dashboard. Browser-local OCR reads its English text and proposes dates for you to review. You choose the actual cutoff, preparation date, and email reminder schedule before saving. The extension is currently an unpacked testing build, not a Chrome Web Store release.
- How does screenshot OCR find a deadline?
- OCR converts the screenshot’s visible text into editable text. DueRadar then looks for date expressions and deadline wording, such as return by, expires, or trial ends. It distinguishes possible cutoffs from other dates for review, and flags ambiguous date formats, missing years, and date ranges. OCR can misread text and does not verify a provider’s rules.
- Can it read the time as well as the deadline date?
- Cutoff-time extraction is being tested alongside date capture. When a notice includes a time, compare it with the source, check AM/PM, and confirm the time zone. A date-only notice does not establish a cutoff time. The provider’s actual cutoff takes precedence over any extracted suggestion.
- Are screenshots uploaded to an AI service?
- No. DueRadar reads the screenshot locally in the browser. The extension temporarily holds one capture in browser session storage for the app handoff; the image is not uploaded to DueRadar’s server or an external AI service. Only the deadline fields you approve are saved, plus a selected source sentence if you explicitly choose to keep it.
- Where can I install the DueRadar Chrome extension?
- The extension is in testing and is not listed in the Chrome Web Store. Testers build it from the OCR feature branch for a matching local or preview app, then load the generated folder through Chrome’s Developer mode. The setup steps on this page explain the process. Do not assume the production website includes every testing feature.
- Does the extension read every page or create reminders automatically?
- No. Capture starts when you click Capture this page, and it reads the visible area of that regular web page. It does not watch your browsing, scan an inbox, or read content outside the capture. Nothing is saved until you review the deadline form. It does not cancel subscriptions, submit returns, or complete renewals for you.
